3D Areola & Nipple Tattooing
After a mastectomy, a permanent 3D Nipple Tattoo may provide the realistic appearance of a raised nipple and areola on flat skin. With 3D Areola Nipple Tattooing we can use our expertise as Permanent Makeup Artists to help restore the appearance of the areola and nipple, in turn helping to restore women’s confidence and womanliness.
Rather than reconstructing a nipple using tissue, some women opt to have a nipple tattooed on the reconstructed breast. Instead of a nipple, some women choose to have a star, a heart, or another meaningful image tattooed on the reconstructed breast.
How does an Areola Tattoo Treatment work?
This will entail examining the form, size, location, and colouration of your areolas. Then, using temporary markers, the technician will pre-draw the areola and nipple complex and match the pigment tones to your skin exactly.
The most realistic results are often achieved with 3D nipple tattoos, which are real tattoos that use oscillating needles coated with pigment. The needles insert the pigment into the skin. This approach essentially creates a picture of a nipple and has no physical dimension, but it can look quite real although it does tend to look better from a distance than very close up.
How many sessions do I need?
As permanent inks are used, one session is usually all that’s needed, although it may require touch-up sessions over time. 3D tattoos are permanent and usually don’t fade. 3D nipple tattooing can be used to create new nipples and to colour-correct previous nipple tattoos that have faded or have undesirable colours.
Areola and Nipple tattooing is suitable for the following patients:
- Post breast reconstruction surgery following either a major lumpectomy or single/double mastectomy
- Post breast augmentation, where the areola/or nipple has been moved or removed.
- Those with uneven areola’s who wish to gain more symmetry.
